About VCOMP.org (Volunteer Computing for Everyone)

VCOMP.org is a free, independent, bilingual directory of the world's volunteer computing projects. We exist for one reason: to help more people put their idle computers to work on real science.

Our History

VCOMP.org grew out of the Chinese distributed computing community at equn.com (中国分布式计算总站), which has been promoting volunteer computing in China since 2002. Now, we're expanding our mission to reach a global audience in both English and Chinese.

Our Mission

Be the clearest and most up-to-date directory of volunteer computing in any language — bilingual, ad-free, and built to help people find research worth their CPU and GPU cycles.

How to Get Started

Choose a project from our directory that matches your interests and hardware.
Install BOINC on your computer (or World Community Grid, or the project's standalone software).
Attach the project by entering its URL in BOINC, or by signing in to a BOINC account manager like BAM!
Leave BOINC running. Work units download, compute, and return results to researchers automatically — no further action needed.

Ready to Make a Difference?

Join millions of volunteers worldwide. Your idle computer can help cure diseases, discover pulsars, and advance human knowledge.
